course update 16.4.25
2025-04-15 - 2025-04-23:
Sorry for such a late update. We have a lot of balls in the air at the moment! Here''s a quick update on what''s going on.
Greens. We had a very wet season last year, especially in the autumn. Disease pressure was therefore high all year, and we had some very heavy fungal activity going into winter, which is never good. This ''snowmold'' (snømugg) fungus is tough to control since there are very few chemicals available to the golf market here in Scandinavia. We are now seeing the results of this pathogen after a long, and also wet winter. These patchy areas are now filling in, as the disease affects the leaf blades and seldom infects the plants growing point. We''ve had frost these last few weeks but now with the warmer weather ahead we''ll see an improvement.
New tees. Our talented in-house golf course shaper Tor Andre, has built some new 38 tees this spring. We''ve laid out some mats so they can be used immediately, and we''ll need to get these seeded as soon as the soil temps are a bit higher. The mats will remain until we can utilize the tees normally.
Hole 2. The new 300m2 tee is completed, and we''ll get this seeded as soon as possible.
Golfcart paths. Our roads are now 15+ years old and we are seeing more and more damage from tree roots, as they try to seek out and nutrients and water in our playing areas. Repairs are time consuming and costly. We have repaired over 500m this spring, and these will be asfalted in early May. Repairs will noticed on holes 2,3,7,14, and 16.
Driving Range. You''ll notice quite a few changes here this year. The back part of the range has been used over the winter as a depot for crushing stone, relating to the new Fri project. Near 40000 m3 of stone from the Fri project has been utilized to build up the back half of our range. We are using recylced artificial turf to cover this area.
Nursery green. You''ll see we''ve filled out an area to the right of green 13. Here we will establish a nursery green, an area we can grow our own grass for in house repairs of our greens and tees.
Current cutting heights are Greens, 3.5 mm, Tees 9mm, Fairways 13mm.
God påske!
